THE SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE

Columnist and freelance writer. Wrote features about trends, music, and women's issues for Datebook, Style, and Home & Garden sections. Created and wrote Clubland column to cover the scene at underground events and offbeat parties. Wrote the Essentials column monthly to preview upcoming music shows and the World Vibe column weekly to promote ethnic arts events, both for the 96 Hours weekend section.

Podcast host. Did interviews, edited sound clips, and hosted podcasts on the Bay Area music scene, including Bay Beats band interviews and the 96 Hours Essentials live-music previews.

On-call Front Page producer. Wrote and produced teaser packages for the Today module from beginning to end. Helped select featured articles and videos on hard news, politics, celebrity, entertainment, fashion, lifestyles, finance, and science. Contributing writer. Researched and rewrote descriptive chapters on eight San Francisco neighborhoods for the 2009 edition. Also researched and rewrote listings chapters on nightlife, festivals, galleries, shopping, and hotels.

Managing Editor of Flavorpill San Francisco. Curated the content of a weekly email newsletter that recommended the best cultural events in the San Francisco Bay Area to 28,000-plus subscribers. Managed a mostly volunteer staff. Edited and wrote 100-word items on music, DJs, art, comedy, theater, dance, literature, and fashion. Coordinated with production staff in New York City.

Freelance writer. Wrote about the life of a San Francisco high school student, through her freshman year and most of her sophomore year. Followed her during events such as her first day of high school, a state cross-country meet, and preparations for her first formal, and reported in a monthly series. Read hundreds of 100-word essays, narrowed down contestant pools, discussed final winners with top editors and hotel promotions staff.
